Packs A Powerful Punch - Phone Vent Mount Critique

by Lucas Bell

With the tubing in place, the mount is rock solid in the vent, and the X is rock solid in the mount, even on bumpy dirt mountain fire roads. I would buy again in an instant.

I needed a mount to replace the proprietary mount for my GPS, so I could mount my dinc2, and it works. Haven't tried the vent clips, but the window mount sticks well and hasn't fallen off. I am ordering a 2nd one for my other car. It is cheap and works well connected to the vent. I also got her a GPS program for her iPhone too. I ended up using the suction cup on the windshield.

You just have to make sure when you mount it that it's the way you want it because sometimes the weight of the device can make it tip forward but still stays on the mount. You get two mounting options for cheap. Typically you only get one type of mount for this price.

I tried every possible orientation of the phone, and none would allow access to all phone ports and power button. That said, the modification was not a big deal, and the holder works fine. There is easy access to battery chargers and aux outlets and the bottom holders adjust to fit an iPod charger. Great little product I returned a cup holder type phone holder for my HTC Evo because it was too distracting.

Can turn phone to landscape view by just turning while in the mount. It doesn't bounce too much while driving.

Great smartphone companion! I purchased two of these for my (and my wife's) Samsung Epic 4g phones. It holds my iPhone 3 and my son's iPhone 4 with no problem. It's adjustable with easy release.

This little thing is so neat and handy. It'll easy adjust to fit your phone with or without a phone cover/protector of any sort because it expands so quickly and easily. The one good thing for me was the suction cup, which solidly attached to the windshield. But other things were so bad that 1 star is the most I can give. There is no spring. They rely on the springiness of the plastic. It is an inexpensive device, a little more bulky than necessary on the sides of the mount (and why would you want that if you have a sleek phone"). Mostly does what it is supposed to and is cheap, which is what I was going for being skeptical as to whether it would fit correctly.
