As the T-Mobile G2X continues to keep rising as one of the first smart phones to run on the HSPA+ network, it's established a class of its own. While the network is not technically 4G, users can expect faster Web browsing speeds with the G2X when in areas such as New York, Los Angeles, Boston, Philadelphia and the San Francisco Bay Area that are covered by the network. The phone's multimedia capabilities are unquestionable and videos, images and audio can be easily streamed, transferred to different media and played via the relevant apps.

This mobile phone's multimedia capabilities are not revolutionary. It features a 5MP camera that can capture HD images and video. Even with a LED flash on the camera, it still captures somewhat fuzzy pictures indoors so it's ideal for the outdoors. The media player is not quite advanced like that of the Samsung Vibrant but it has the essential playback features. It is also bundled with DoubleTwist syncing software and supports most basic audio and video codecs. If your multimedia library is quite large, you will be pleased with the preinstalled 8GB microSD, or you can install up to 32GB card in the slot.

Voice dialing is one of the biggest features of this mobile device. Many Android users, including drivers, had difficulties with other smart phones that do not support this feature. The memory cards also allow you to store important information like apps and contact info. The negative aspect is that the application cannot be installed directly from the memory card. You have to download it to the phone first and later transfer it to the memory. The process is easy but will take first-time users a while to figure out. The FM radio interface does not have major changes but is much cleaner and more attractive. You can directly jump to the preferred station because it has a full channel list.

Other features include a speakerphone, voice dialing, quad-band world roaming, Bluetooth, text and multimedia messaging, GPS, and Wi-Fi. One cool thing about this phone is that the SIM card can hold up to 250 contacts. There is room for multiple entries for each number including IM handles, photo caller IDs, e-mail addresses, group IDs, among others. The phone can pull and merge messages from multiple e-mail addresses, calendar appointments, contact information, and social networking accounts including Twitter, Facebook, IMAP, POP3 and Exchange. There's a new option in the Search widget that allows you to search applications results only, Web results only or a combination of the two. The choices can be accessed by hitting the Google icon on the search bar.

There are many Google services that come preloaded with this mobile phone. Aside from the standard GTalk, Google Maps and YouTube, you also get Google Translate, Google Listen, Google Earth, Voice Actions, Google Voice, Google Finance, among others. However, you cannot uninstall these apps, which can be rather annoying especially considering they take up a considerable amount of the phone's 4GB internal memory. The performance of this cell phone is quite remarkable. Call quality is great with very little voice distortion and background noise.

The basic accessories shipped with the phone include a USB cable, AC adapter, a wired stereo headset, an 8GB microsSD card and reference material. You can customize the phone with your preferred colored case which is featured in brown, blue, red and many other colors also.
