Benefits of the Sony Xperia Play for Long Trips

by Gareth Jale

As most people would probably agree, it's pretty important to bring a cell phone on long trips. While it may be tempting to disconnect when traveling the open road, it's important to have your phone in case of an emergency. Your car can get a flat tire or break down in the middle of the road, so you will need a way to call for help. But if you have an Xperia Play, you won't have to call for help. If you're a AAA member, download the AAA Roadside app and request assistance. You'll be able to see your view your card info, find the closest auto repair shops, etc. This makes it easy for drivers to repair their vehicle and get back on the road.

With gas prices climbing, most drivers want to get to their location as quickly as possible. Making a wrong turn won't just delay your trip, it can end up costing you money. Fortunately, like all Android devices, it comes with Google Maps already installed. This app will help you with directions, give you free turn-by-turn driving instructions, show you 3-D maps, keep you updated on traffic, and help you search for important places, like gas stations and restaurants. You can even go and check out pictures of live images of streets and businesses. And yes, there are tons of mapping apps out there, but Google maps is probably one of the best ones out there.

But the best feature that it boasts is its ability to play. As long as you aren't the one driving, the Xperia Play will help you pass the time. The phone already comes with four games: Bejeweled 2, Astraware Sudoku, Solitaire, and Bubble Breaker. However, if these games aren't enough to keep you busy, there are hundreds of other games available at the Android Market. The top games out there right now are Angry Birds, Fruit Ninja, Robo Defense, Paper Toss and Words with Friends. Some of these games are free, and some go for about less than $3 each. But keep in mind though, if you plan on playing this phone a lot, you're going to need another battery or a charger for your car. If you forget these accessories, the battery probably may not last throughout the entire trip.

This mobile device is also a good phone to listen to music. One of the most annoying things about road trips is that the radio stations are constantly changing. Most people don't want to spend their time searching for a radio station they like. If you have music stored on your phone, pick up a AUX cable before your trip so you can listen to your music through your car stereo. If you're looking for a large selection for music on your phone, you can download some apps like Pandora, TuneIn Radio and Slacker Radio. Unlike regular radio stations, these will remain the same regardless of where you are driving to.

This is a great phone to bring with you on long road trips. And don't worry if music or games aren't your thing, because you can even watch videos, surf the web and much more. It is a great phone to bring with you on long road trips. If you remember to pack your case and other type of accessories, it will prove itself to be a great companion on your long road trips.
